Wondering if anyone can help me with a particular Nexus 7 problem I have. Apologizes in advance if I sound like a noob. I have searched and searched and am at my wits' end. I can't update the bootloader of my pre-production Nexus 7 (Nakasi Wi-Fi) from version 3.24 to 4.23. When I initially unboxed and turned on the Nexus 7 I had just been given I found out that it's a developer model running Jellybean with bootloader version 3.24. At first tried all of the usual ways of updating the OS. Unfortunately none of the ways I tried, via Android Studio, Minimal ADB and Fastboot, and the Nexus Root Toolkit, worked. I read that if I edited android-info.txt file to read "require board=grouper require version-bootloader=3.24", I would be able to flash 4.1.2 (http://forums.androidcentral.c.... It worked, and after a few hours of constantly updating OTA I ended up with a *slow* Nexus 7 running 5.1.1. I decided to start over and try to update the bootloader again. I know that in some builds there were some problems with bootloader version 4.23 but what I pulled was the latest off of Android's website (https://developers.google.com/.... That didn't work. I tried to flash it through a terminal. I tried to flash it through the Nexus Root Toolkit. I tried different USB ports 2.0 and 3.0 (which shouldn't matter since I was able to update just the OS initially) and that didn't work. The log in the terminal says: The *extremely* small text on the Nexus screen says: I think that if I just update the bootloader version from 3.24 to 4.23 I'll be find. I'll be able to update straight to 5.1.1 and have a cleaner install. Unfortunately I can't find any way of doing so online. Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks!
pratmodi posted a topic in Android PhonesI am from India and have Moto G XT1033 Dual Sim Version. so what i did was - (FOLLOWED THE ROOTING PROCEDURE FROM MODACO superboot tools ) 1. I tried to unlock Bootloader via Motorola website and first time i didn't follow proper bootloader unlocking process and tried to root the phone while it was "LOCKED STATUS 0".This gave error Device loked and "cmd". 2. Then i noticed mistake and unlocked bootloader successfully and STATUS was "UNLOCKED " in bootloader. 3. Then i rebooted and again booted into bootloader and then began process and it on the phone screen said something like "Booting" or "cmd" i dont remember actually and then some stripes with BLACK SCREEN and faded colours were there so as told in tutorial , i long pressed power button and rebooted it But after that nothing happened as told in guide and no "SU" or SuperUser app was there. ALSO the command prompt on pc screen ended the process saying like "Failed" 4. Now when i check with some root checking apps , they all tell me device is not rooted. also from google play store , i installed superuser and it tells no SU binaries found. CONCERNS ARE - 1 Should i begin the whole rooting process again ? will it mess it up further ? can my device get bricked ? 2 In Recovery option in Bootloader there is a BOT laying down with RED exclamation mark. what is this ? 3 Have i customized my ROM and firmware? 4 How do i get Rooted ? 5 How to get stock firmware/ROM back ? 6 Please help me find my stock firmware for my Indian XT1033 Dual Sim version. My device after this has slow download speeds like 2mb app is taking 10 minutes or so .
Unlocking bootloader problem
Shisui posted a topic in Android DevelopmentHello! Recently I tried to root my htc one s with locked bootloader. I tried Framaroot,Vroot,Unlock Root,Superoneclick, but those didn't work. Maybe cause I have locked bootloader,so I decided to unlock it. From now on I have a big problem. The only reason I NEED root is because I want to use DiskDigger to recover my photos. On my device these are on userdata partition. I heard that unlocking bootloader is like factory reset. I don't care about what I can lose now (anyway I recover then),cause I have only some games and contacts. I can do factory reset ten times per day and I don't care. My phone is anyway like I just bought it. The only thing I'm scared as hell is losing the old partition. I lost those photos cause I needed factory reset. I didn't have backup. After factory reset my phone has a new partition right? The old one can be deleted forever if I unlock bootloader?
Basic question on roms
dane795 posted a topic in Android DevelopmentFrom my understanding the ROM I would flash through clockwork mod recovery is just the operating system including the kernel and all of the applications. I see it like the windows installation disk, but in android form, correct me if I'm wrong. How would a phone be hardbricked through a ROM if it's just the operating system? Wouldn't you need to have an unsuccessful change to the bootloader or recovery partion to hardbrick? Like if windows messes up, I can still fix it as long as the bios is fine and I have an installation disk. Maybe I'm totally wrong on this but I don't know. I successfuly unlocked the bootloader today, it was pretty sketchy and I soft bricked a time or two (as expected) but it worked out. I'll probably just wait for my friend who excells at things like this to help me install CWM and CM7 on my atrix 4g.
