HTC MyTouch 4G Non-rooted version 2.3

Wednesday (5/30/2012) I updated Google maps and a while later I went to go into my messages, but I got a black screen with nothing but the bar at the top holding the time/wifi/data/cell signal. I had to pull out the battery to turn it off, so I let it sit for a bit and when I turned it back on I got a boot loop of the opening MyTouch logo. Hard reboot (holding volume up with power button) didn't work, so I went to my carrier T-mobile. They tried hard rebooting it with their computer and it did get to the reboot menu. After selecting factory reset it would get stuck on the triangle with the exclamtion mark above a phone symbol and then it would just loop. They said they've seen the problem before and it's a corrupted OS. Since I got my phone at a different retailer they couldn't do anything else for me. I've already contacted HTC about it and I was hoping there was something I could do to fix the phone while HTC get back to me.

Thank you for any help towards a solution.
