wi-fi protocols

Hi there,

I have purchased Alcatel OT 918N having gingerbread (2.3.6)

It is supporting 802.11 b/g/n wireless protocols

My old HTC wildfire supports 802.11 b/g. But I cant connect to OT 918N wi-fi hotspot with my wildfire because wildfire is not able to find this wi-fi

I confirmed the reason as OT 918N is using 802.11n by default and my wildfire hardware is not supporting the same. Similar problem exist with one HP Compaq NC6320 laptop where it is not able to find the OT 918N wi-fi. On analysis, I found that the laptop having hardware only for 802.11b/g and this is causing the problem

But with 2 new laptops acer and dell, it is working fine as both have 802.11b/g/n hardware

This is not a good feature for OT 918N and I need a solution, I am not ready to give up my wildfire and NC6320

The question is how I can change the protocol as 802.11b or g or n as needed so that I can use it with any legacy gadgets..

I desperately need a solution as Alcatel customer support failed to solve the same..
