CrossPurposes
Hi. I had admired the Kindle Fire's text-to-speech ability, and was told pretty much any Android tablet could probably do it because it was a function of Android more than the Kindle. Which app or feature gives you text-to-speech(not speech to text)? Is there a minimum version of Android that you have to have, like Honeycomb or something? Jive Turkee
Ivona or Svox in the Google Play store are apps that do text to speech. Also, Google has the accessibilty option for TTS in Google Books

AvocadoMike
I have a smart phone running Android and a Kindle App. I would like to listen to some books via Text-to-speech. So far, I've tried downloading SVOX and iVona. Neither of these worked. I adjusted the settings properly as well and downloaded voices for each. Also, when I want to play a Kindle book, do I use the Kindle App or the TTS App? If the TTS App is properly installed, do I need to pay attention to it if I want to play a book in Kindle? Thanks!
Julie kindle app user
I've found on my galaxy note 2 if you already have a tts installed on your Android you can use it for kindle too trick is you have to go to your settings and accessibility and turn on talk back. No matter the tts you use if you do continuous read of the book the voice isn't great but if you're like me and are in the car it seems more often than not it'll do. Drawback is it is a pain to bring any folder or app up because you have to first highlight then double tap to select/start app.
jassz39
This is a bit off topic, but might solve your problem (depending on what kind of reading you want to do). I was worried TTS would be boring to listen to, and a straight up audible membership wasnt worth the money to me. I just heard about amazon unlimited, and plan on giving it a try for audiobooks.
