deleting contacts that do not exist anyway

My friend recently got a new telephone number so I deleted his contact completely added in a new one with the correct telephone number and now when I say okay Google and tell my telephone to call him he asked me which number I want to call since there is only one telephone number stored in my contacts how do I get rid of the old telephone number that has already been gotten rid of but Google doesn't know that I've gotten rid of it because it's nowhere in my contacts any help would be greatly appreciated
