Solar Charger and Bluetooth speakers

So I went out on the water in the Kayak today for the first time this summer. I realized something is missing from my life... Music.

So my idea is to attach a solar panel to the back of the Kayak so I can keep the phone charged/charging while listening to music.

Second I need to find a set of Bluetooth speakers.. Preferably waterproof?

Anyone got any suggestions/ideas for a good Solar Charger and/or Bluetooth speakers?

  • 3 weeks later...

Eton Rukus makes a bluetooth speaker with a solar panel built in. Let me see if I can find one on line... one sec... don't go away... ah yes, here's one. That product description doesn't mention whether it is water proof or not. Where it doesn't mention it, I would assume it isn't. Still, it is solar powered and you can dock your device to it, so it will charge both from the solar panel on the speaker. Stick it in a big ziplock freezer bag and you're in business.

I don't own one and have never used it. I saw the one my brother in law has in his garage but never saw it in action so I can't speak to how well it works either. Your post just reminded me of the one I had seen. I hope it works out for you.

Hrmm... That thing is pretty sick looking!

Thanks for posting! I might just give it a try.

I did end up getting http://www.amazon.com/Extreme-Waterproof-Built-In-Speaker-Players/dp/B003H3JJZE/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1338705092&sr=8-6

Works great and sounds pretty damn good too. I can hook it on to the bungee's on my Kayak. Turn up the volume and just paddle to tunes all day!

Nope, none as of yet.. I have not really found any with decent reviews.. I got the HTC Evo LTE and with the battery life I have now, I am really not to worried about it anymore.

I probably will end up buying a cheap one though for really long trips or when I go camping/kayaking.
