BFann
I'm having a couple of issues here. 1- I have to re-flash my ROM. I can do that with nandroid but when I want to re-load my contacts the only way I can get them back (that I know of) is do a restore from a backup. That puts me right back where I was, with a damaged ROM. 1.1- Is there anything I can use to do the backup that will allow me to re-load only my contacts onto a new ROM? Perhaps some way of exporting the contacts file, editing it in a spread sheet (or some such) and re-loading it into a new ROM after the flash? 2- I had a copy of ROM Manager in my phone. It's gone somewhere. I'd like to get another copy but it seems to have vanished from the net. No link that I can find (no, not on Market or AppBrain) will actually point to the app. It only gets the licence add on and I still have that on my phone. Any assistance is appreciated. bdfull3r
If you have a recent version of Android, 2.2 or later then on your contacts screen press your menu button then import/export contacts. export the contacts to your sd card then on the new ROM import them from sd card if that doesn't work there are a number of contact back up to check out such as these two though there are more of them https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=no.uia.android.backupcontacts&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsIm5vLnVpYS5hbmRyb2lkLmJhY2t1cGNvbnRhY3RzIl0. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xuecs.ContactHelper&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS54dWVjcy5Db250YWN0SGVscGVyIl0. BFann
bdfull3r, Thank you for your reply. I did look at the apps that you mentioned. It looks like the import of the data from both apps is problematical. Do you have any thoughts on this? I have realized that I left out quite a bit of information in my request for assistance. Thngs like the specs on what I'm running. Here they are. Model Number: T-Mobile G1 (Rooted and flashed) Firmware Version: 1.6 Baseband Version: 62.505.20.17U_2.22.19.26I Kernel Version: 2.6.29.6-SuperD benjamin@ubuntu ) Mod Version: Super D 1.10.4 Build Number: Super D I hope this will make it easier for you good folks to advise me. Again, thank you. B

BFann
bdfull3r, Again, thank you. I installed Mobile Backup ll and it worked. Thank you. Due to my own incompetance, I now have duplicates of every contact in my list. Any idea how to get rid of duplicates? I can't seem to find any step by step on the net. The trick with Google Chrome dsoesn't seem to have worked. Is there a way to export the file to a spreadsheet, edit it, and then recover it from the edited file? Again, thank you for your help. bdfull3r
As far as I know of no. You could try to sync them to your google account and edit them online but I don't know
BFann
Again, thank you for your reply. I did find a way to delete individual contacts. It's cumbersom but it works. From the contacts list, select a contact, hit the menue button and the delete is right there. I'm still trying to find a way to select several contacts at a time for deletion. On another note: I've flashed in the Cyanogen version 5 ROM for this phone, but the Super D 1.6 from ClockworkMod works better so I flashed it back in. I'd like to try some others from ClockwrkMod but my phone has lost the ROM Manager APK. I have the APK on my computer (yes, I did find it) but when I use the App Installer I get a parsing error. The ClockworkMod site doesn"t have any "contact us " data so I'm going to start a new thread on here in hopes that someone can help me with this parsing error problem. Thanks again for all of your help. B
