NANO slim

Your expert help please. After buying a "Cyclone NANO slim" for interactive Tv, I found the WI-FI would not penetrate my walls. Is it possible to add a LAN to USB connection and disable the WI-FI?

I bought a converter with CD, but it does not connect. How would I use the CD please?

It says on the box "register for full support" but there is no link to support on their site.

Where would I find my LAN SSID and password please?

Thanking you.

Hi Lawrie,

First off, I can't help but wonder what your walls are made of? If its drywall, the WiFi signal should do alright for a generous distance, typically 30ft or so. As for adding a LAN/USB connection, it has been done in the past with some Android powered tablets but it required custom drivers for the devices in question. I don't think you'll be able to find anything in that regard, particularly since Cyclone Nano sells a non slim version with Ethernet. The CD that came with the product you purchased no doubt holds drivers, however, those drivers are going to be designed for PC and Mac. (Side note, I do believe Honeycomb 3.0+ devices are able to support USB disc drives since they are supposed to have USB Host mode).

I wasn't able to find much support on their website either, so I think your best bet is to figure out how to get the WiFi working. It looks like your Nano Slim is running Android 2.3 "Gingerbread". Therefore, in order to connect to your wireless you can best do so by going to your app tray, choosing Settings, then Wireless and Networks, then WiFi Settings. Make sure WiFi is checked (if there is a check box even, may be a little bit different for this device) and then your network's SSID should show up under WiFi Networks. As for your password, that's something you should have set up on your home router. If you never setup your router, your password may be the typical default of "password" or "admin".

Thank you Jim for your informative reply.

My router is in the office near the main telephone socket, I have moved it nearer the door and nearer the window, also tried making a directional ariel out of foil, but no connection. The walls are insulated block, but the kitchen is between the office and sitting room, meaning about 3 walls.

When I moved the router into the sitting room, the connection worked, so the settings are correct. Shame i cannot use the LAN.

So as you say, I must work at the WI -FI .

It sounds like it works

Here are some tips for your wifi

Keep it away from other electronics as much as possible, especially wireless or cordless electronics like house phones. This can limit interference.

Place the router as high as reasonably possible. Wifi spreads more horizontally then vertically so any vertical boost can help.

Avoid metal objects as well again to avoid interference.

If nothing else, if you are working in a larger area you may want to consider a wifi repeated to send that signal further
